For those of you that were reading this blog from time to time, you will notice a change in the title. It is no longer called "Reflections of a Two-School Principal". I have resigned my position as principal of the virtual school and am simplifying my work life.
Although I will miss the virtual school, I feel that I am needed in the traditional face to face environment more. The excitement of trying new technology and seeing my staff flourish in that rapidly expanding world, I am blessed with students and staff that I can see, touch, hear, and be with on a daily basis. From the morning breakfast routine to the discipline discussions I have with students, I am reminded daily of my role in their lives while they are at school. For this I am truly grateful.
By focusing on the one school, I am hopeful that I can do that much more for improving learning and take the time that I need at home to put some balance back into my world. This is still new to me and I have not yet begun to make too many changes at school or at home. However, I am finding myself in the classroom with the students more and in doing that, I have already achieved one of my goals.
This blog will continue to provide a place for reflection regarding running a small school and if you wish to comment on any of it, please feel free to do so. I will allow those comments that do not take away from my idea of a supportive environment and I do not intend to argue my point in open debate in any near future. However, if you feel the need to lend your support or share your stories with me, you may email me at grandmavonline.vandenberg@gmail.com Any derogatory or inflammatory or spam emails will be dealt with in a manner fitting their content. God bless us all.
